Facebook marketing allows you to reach people based on location, age, gender, interests and more, with regular updates on how well your Ads are performing. Facebook allows you to really refine the audience you are targeting with your marketing, e.g. If you cater for broad demographics, you can tailor your ads to each segment of this (e.g. different images & copy for younger users vs. older, by gender or location). If you have a smaller target market, you can really focus your efforts in on that particular segment of Facebook users.
Adverts can appear in one of five locations on Facebook:
-Right hand column (of your desktop newsfeed)
-Right hand column (on any other Facebook page you visit)
-Within the main newsfeed
-On the mobile newsfeed
As you can see from the image below, the ad in the main desktop newsfeed is targeting me because I am already a fan of the Warner Brothers Studio Tour page. The Ad in the right hand column is targeting me because I have an interest in Harry Potter.
